Itinerary: North Sulawesi Mountain Trip 10D9N
Day 1: Arrival in Manado – Journey to Tomohon
Welcome to North Sulawesi! Upon arriving at Sam Ratulangi International Airport in Manado, you’ll embark on a scenic drive to Tomohon, a charming highland town known for its cool climate and breathtaking views of the surrounding volcanoes. Check-in to your hotel, settle in, and relax for the evening as you prepare for the exciting journey ahead.
Day 2: Conquer the Twin Volcanoes Lokon-Empung – Lake Linow Retreat
Ready for adventure? Begin your trek from Kinilow village, ascending Mt. Empung at 1,325 meters. Enjoy the panoramic views before crossing to Mt. Lokon, an active volcano with a dramatic Tompaluan Crater. Marvel at the rugged volcanic terrain, where nature’s raw power is on full display. Afterward, wind down by Lake Linow, famous for its vibrant, shifting colors caused by sulfuric activity. Enjoy the serene atmosphere before returning to your hotel for a restful evening.
Day 3: Sunrise at Mt. Mahawu – Tuur Masering – Lake Tondano – Ranolewo Hot Springs – Mt. Soputan Camping Ground
Kick off your day with a sunrise hike to the crater of Mt. Mahawu, where you’ll be rewarded with stunning views of the surrounding landscapes. Next, head to Tuur Masering to witness the traditional process of distilling palm whiskey while enjoying breakfast. Day 4: Summit Mt. Soputan – White Water Rafting – Manado

Afterward, trek down the mountain and head to Timbukar Village for an adrenaline-pumping white water rafting adventure. Day 5: Manado – Bunaken Island Paradise

Day 8: Wildlife Trekking at Tangkoko – Mt. Klabat Adventure
Start your day with an early trek into Tangkoko’s lush rainforest to spot the endemic Black Crested Macaques, hornbills, cuscus, and other fascinating wildlife. After lunch back at the homestay, drive to Airmadidi in the late afternoon to begin your overnight trek to the peak of Mt. Klabat, the tallest mountain in North Sulawesi. Camp under the stars at the summit, surrounded by the tranquil wilderness.
Day 9: Sunrise at Mt. Klabat – Cultural Exploration – Manado Spa Experience
Wake up to the glorious sunrise from the peak of Mt. Klabat, soaking in the breathtaking views. After breakfast at the campsite, trek back down to Airmadidi. On the return drive to Manado, stop at Sawangan to explore the ancient waruga stone sarcophagi, which date back to as early as 900 AD.
