The Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Jayapura
Your adventure begins upon your arrival at Jayapura airport. You’ll be transferred to your hotel, where you can relax and prepare for the journey ahead. The rest of the day is yours to finalize your plans.
Day 2: From Jayapura to Wamena – Discovering Jiwika
Take a scenic flight to Wamena in the Baliem Valley, followed by a drive to Jiwika. Explore the charming Dani villages and their fascinating surroundings. Spend the night in a cozy local guesthouse in Jiwika.
Day 3: Dani Tribal Ceremonies – Return to Wamena
Experience the vibrant culture of the Dani tribes through their traditional ceremonies and daily activities. Later, travel back to Wamena for your overnight stay.
Day 4: Journey to Yaniruma
Board a chartered missionary flight to Yaniruma, your gateway to the Korowai tribes. Spend the day exploring the area and settle in for the night at a local guesthouse.
Day 5: Canoeing and Trekking to Dambol
Navigate the Dairam Kabur River by canoe before trekking deep into the tropical rainforest. Spend the night in a treehouse or a simple shelter, surrounded by nature.
Days 6–8: Immersing Yourself in Korowai Life
Trek further into the rainforest to meet the Korowai treehouse tribes. Over the next three days, participate in their daily routines—hunting, gathering food, fishing, and building animal traps. These immersive days offer both challenges and rewards. Rest overnight in tents or treehouses. (Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner included)
Day 9: Trekking to Basman Village
Continue your trek to Basman, a unique village that bridges the cultures of the Korowai and Citak Mitak tribes. Spend the night in a local house.
Day 10: Canoe Ride to Jinak via Senggo
Travel along the Dairam River by motorized canoe, passing the Citak Mitak tribes and vibrant rainforest scenery. Reach Jinak and settle into a local house for the night.
Day 11: Expedition to an Asmat Village
Set out on a fascinating journey to an Asmat village via Atsy, cruising the Wildemann and Sirets rivers. Spend the night in a men’s house or local school.
Day 12: Celebrating Asmat Traditions
Take part in traditional Asmat ceremonies, including mesmerizing songs, rhythmic drumming, thrilling canoe races, and the iconic Mbist pole ritual.
Day 13: Exploring Agats and Its Heritage
Sail back to Agats, where you’ll delve into the vibrant local life and visit the Asmat tribes’ art museum. Stay overnight at the Asmat Inn.
Day 14: Return to Wamena via Ewer
Travel by motorized canoe to Ewer airstrip for a chartered flight back to Wamena. Check into the Baliem Pilamo Hotel and enjoy a relaxing day at your leisure.
Day 15: Farewell in Jayapura
After breakfast, transfer to Wamena airport for your flight to Jayapura. From there, continue your onward journey with cherished memories of this unforgettable adventure.
